Not All Haircuts Need to Have Names
Not every haircut needs a name.
You do not need to walk into the barbershop asking for a taper, crop, mullet, mod cut, burst fade or textured fringe if you are not sure what those words actually mean. Sometimes we don't know the names, take the flow or something more ridiculous like a warrior cut. It's all made up nonsense. A good haircut starts with a proper conversation, not a label.
Sometimes the best thing you can say is:
“I want it easier to style.”
“I want to keep some length but tidy the shape.”
“I like the texture in this photo.”
“I do not want it too short on the sides.”
“I want it to grow out better.”
“I want it to feel sharper, but still natural.”
That tells your barber more than a haircut name ever could.
Haircut names can mean different things to different people. One person’s “crop” might be another person’s “short textured cut”. One barber’s “low taper” might not look exactly like the photo you have saved. That is why references, lifestyle and honest conversation matter.
Bring a picture if you have one. Talk about how much time you want to spend styling it. Mention what annoyed you about your last haircut. Tell your barber what you want to avoid. The more useful the information, the better the result.
At Fella, the aim is not just to give you a named haircut. It is to give you a haircut that suits your hair, your face, your routine and the way you actually want to look.
So if you do not know what to ask for, do not worry.
That is what the consultation is for.
